A Cost–Benefit Analysis Framework for City-Scale Seismic Retrofitting Scheme of Buildings

چکیده
To improve urban seismic resilience, a reasonable retrofitting scheme for buildings is required. Urban cities contain large number of buildings, making it challenging to precisely assess the benefits each one. This paper proposes cost–benefit assessment framework that takes into account risk, damage, retrofit costs, economic losses, and analyses city-scale buildings. The proposed adopts readily available building parameters, including stories, construction year, total height, structural type, floor area, response spectrum design. It makes use empirical models newly developed story-level loss method combining physical mechanism ratios. For analysis, can strike good balance between data accessibility, computational workload, level result details, accuracy. adapt nimbly earthquake-induced indirect losses budgetary constraints on retrofitting. analysis 98,618 in Xi’an city, China, carried out. findings indicate that, when potential ratios are neglected, unreinforced masonry old most significant.

The Effect of Analysis Methods on the Response of Steel Dual-System Frame Buildings for Seismic Retrofitting
In the present paper, the focus is on the evaluation of steel dual-system frame buildings using four main types of structural analysis (Linear Static, Linear Dynamic, Nonlinear Static and Nonlinear Dynamic Analyses) with regard to "Seismic Rehabilitation Code for Existing Buildings in Iran" (based on FEMA 273 and 356) where the first two authors of the article tend to follow the previous work (...
متن کاملA Retrofitting Framework for Pre-Northridge Steel Moment-Frame Buildings
A case study of retrofitting a 20-story pre-Northridge steel moment-frame building is presented. Twelve retrofit 4 schemes are developed with varying degrees of intervention. Three retrofitting techniques are considered: up5 grading the brittle beam-to-column moment resisting connections, and implementing either conventional or 6 buckling-restrained brace elements within the existing moment-fra...
متن کاملApplication of Near Surface Mounted (NSM) technique for Seismic Retrofitting of Heritage Buildings
The high vulnerability of the cultural buildings due to seismic actions urged researchers to retrofit them using reversible and compatible techniques. The application of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) for enhancing the structural behavior of masonry buildings, under seismic actions, has been studied by many researchers. The near-surface mounting (NSM) technique is a relatively new retrofitting ...
متن کاملInvestigating Efficiency of Shotcrete for Retrofitting Masonry Buildings
One of a feasible and efficient method to retrofit structures is spraying shotcrete which is widely applied around the world. Shotcrete is concrete with fine aggregates which are sprayed through a hose and by air pressure coat at high velocity onto a surface. In the current research, three masonry schools from different regions of Iran are selected. The retrofitted wall surfaces have been prepa...
متن کاملEnd-to-end Simulation and Analysis Framework for Efficient Seismic Retrofitting of Water Systems
Maintaining the functionality, productivity, and safety of communities necessitates the seismic reliability of lifeline infrastructure networks. However, assessing the reliability of an infrastructure network is a nontrivial task due to the variability of ground motion and the complexity of the response of the network resulting from that ground motion. Even more challenging is the task of ident...
